Pressure Strings / Mixups

Strings

  • 2A > 2A > 2A > 2A+B

A personaless blockstring containing all lows, can be fairly safe but you will be close to the opponents, will lose to super reversals during the startup of the sweep.

  • 2A > 5AA > 6B > 2C > 5B > 5C > (214A or 2A+B in the corner)

This the standard blockstring and can be converted off of it as it is part of the BnB. It is gapless until 214A or 2A+B as it can be contested by a reversal super. The string if it is done midscreen will put you and the opponent a good distance away but if done in the corner you will be close to the opponent.

  • 2A > 5AA > 6B/3B > 2C > 2A+B

The short version of the gapless string and safe on block. This one can be used to be close to your opponent and can be used to see an opponent's reaction to each string as it could lead to frame traps after the string using 214A or baiting DPs.

  • 5A/5AA > j.c > j.4B > j.5B

This can be used to stop mashes out of pressure. Can be disrupted by a reversal super.

Pressure Extensions

  • Hop cancel

A bit risky when using this but if the opponent is conditioned to block those strings you can use a hop cancel to start pressure again, do not excessively use a hop cancel, it will get you punished.

  • 5D/2D

For further explanation go here.

  • 236AB

This is your metered option as it is safe on block and can restart pressure and can also setup mixups.

Mixups

  • 5A/5AA > j.c > Air Turn > IABD > j.A > ...

A decent crossup, although it isn't that difficult to block, it is something that we can use in our pressure.

  • j.A x2 > (j.A or 2A)

A 50/50 mix on to block an overhead or a low, can start pressure again if they blocked the 2A.

  • 5AA > 5B > 236[AB~] > 2A > 5AA > [B] > 2D > 2A > ...

This can setup a High Low Situation with 2D and 2A within a string. Can be gapless, depending on timing of the B Agi explosion. If it is done gapless, the opponent has to IB the 2nd Agi and roll out, but it can be caught by a 2A. If they do a guard Cancel roll, they can escape.
